How to Rank on Google with This 3-Step SEO for Beginners 2019

Everybody wants to rule Google.

It’s easier said and wished for than done.

Decades ago, things were much simpler. Then, because of some changes in Google’s algorithm, it became more of a challenge to rank number one.

As Google changes, the key is to keep up.

These SEO for beginners tips will help you move up in the Google ranking.

Do you have what it takes? All you need is commitment, consistency, great content and a little know how.

Here’s how to rank # 1 on Google the legit, effective, and FREE way!

Step 1: Crush Your Content

Step 1: Crush Your Content

You have to create content consistently.

Those ranking at the top put out content on a regular basis. It’s going to make all the difference between having your business found, or being left in the dust.

Your audience is always searching, and tons of new content is published every day.

So keep in mind that posting a couple of pieces of content won’t set you up for life, it just doesn’t work that way. That’s ok though! As long as you love your niche, between you and your audience, there’s always something to create content about.

Now when it comes to ranking high on Google, you also have to crush your content! You may have a well-made website, with lots of cool pictures and videos on it, but if your content is no good, you’ll never dominate Google. Quality content is the engine that powers your online presence.

Say you’re writing something related to dog food and nutrition.

If all your content it stuffed with affiliate links, that’s not quality content.

Your readers want educational, informative, thorough and insightful content, Google wants that for their searchers as well.

So in this case, if you’re in the dog food niche, you can create a comprehensive article on that topic with subtopics.

Here’s an example:

– Nutrition for dogs in various stages of life.

– Store bought dog food vs. homemade dog food.

– Popular dog food brands.

– How to make dog food at home.

– Feeding requirements for a healthy dog.

And so on.

See, you’re not just writing about dog food.

This is your umbrella topic. You can offer your audience more by breaking it down and covering your topic in more depth.

Your readers may not have even considered what you cover, but when another question pops into their heads later, you would have already covered it. After reading your article, they walk away so rich with new information, feeling confident on how to feed their dog properly.

That’s what you’re aiming for and this is what

To write and post quality content that is far more comprehensive than what your competitors offer, which gives you an edge above the rest.

Step 2: Put the Keywords in the Title and Meta Description

Step 2: Put the Keywords in the Title and Meta Description

The second SEO for beginner tip has us focusing on the meta description.

If you look at the example above, when you type “dog food” on the Google search bar and hit “search”, you’ll find an array of results that have one thing in common: The keywords “dog food” is found not just on the title but also in the 1-sentence description below the URL.

This is your meta description.

It’s important to not just keyword stuff, you want the text in your description to flow, and be enticing to click. This is a preview for your audience to determine whether or not they want to read your article.

Look at the above title: “The healthiest dog foods – and some you should avoid”

They have a really good meta description: “Buying cheap dog food is an easy trap to fall into when you first bring a dog at home – dogs are expensive, and between the vet visits…”

See what I mean?

And while we’re here, you should note that these guys are in the top 5 for the keyphrase dog food. If you wanted to get ahead of your competition, your goal would be to write better content while applying these SEO tips.

If you were wondering how that worked…

Step 3: Use Google Search Console

Step 3: Use Google Search Console

Believe or not, Google has given you a FREE tool to help you rank number one!

Now all you have to do is use it!

It’s called Google Search Console. Here’s what it does:

-Shows you search analytics and which articles on your webpage are generating traffic.

-Allows you to see how many people are seeing your listing and clicking through. (As well as how many aren’t.)

Being able to see the data on your impressions, clicks and click thru rate is valuable information. Maybe you decided to change your meta description to see if your click thru improves, etc.

In general, you’re lucky if you’re getting about 5% click thru rate or CTR. The average webpage gets only less than 5% CTR.

In general, you’re lucky if you’re getting about 5% click thru rate, (CTR). The average webpage gets less than 5% CTR.

Here’s the kicker though, Google Search Console shows you ALL the keywords that you’re getting impressions from, even the ones that get you clicks.

So you can use those keywords to further optimize.

Do not stuff keywords into your content, no one likes that and trust me, Google will notice.

Well-optimized content will definitely boost your ranking, it might take a bit of practice though. So make sure you’re creating content!

Bonus SEO Tip to Rank #1 on Google…

I gave you three steps but to further increase your chances of populating Google on your keyword, you should do this super powerful SEO tip:

Use the “people also ask” and “related searches” as ideas for your outline and subheading.Bonus SEO Tip to Rank #1 on Google...Open an incognito window and type in the keywords to the search bar.

Open an incognito window and type in the keywords to the search bar.

Using an incognito window will give you results on the common questions people ask on this keyword, as well as related searches that you can see at the bottom of the page. Include some of these questions and related searches into your content as headlines. As long as they are relevant to your topic, this will add more value and information in your content.

From the above dog food article example, I would leave out the Google suggestions talking about specific brands.

I would instead include the question “What is a Dog’s Natural Diet and Dry Dog Food” as headers and write content under each of those additional sub “how to make dog food” points.

It is logical, helpful to your reader, and essential for your ranking.

The Blog Outline would look something like this.

Blog Title (H1)  – How To Make Dog Food

Sections (H2’s)

What is a Dog’s Natural Diet

The Best Dry Dog Food Ingredients

The Best Wet Dog Food Ingredients

3 Steps to Make Your Own Dog Food from Home

Maybe a few more but that’s a pretty well-rounded conversation, sufficiently preparing a dog food maker wannabe to get rolling!
