How to Do HTML Internal Linking

Ways to Add Internal Linking to Will Boost Your Ranking

Google’s spider bots sift through your posts, your site and any links you add to your content.

The algorithms are identifying certain ranking factors that help identify if your content is relevant to Google users.

Adding internal links to other pieces of great material will boost your Google ranking and help your audience find more of your content.

There are different ways to go about internal linking here are a couple of ways to get you going.

Link within your sidebar.

The largest, most extensive post you have can be considered your main post.

Whenever you write something that branches off of your main post topic you want to link those post together.

Say you’ve created a monster post on online marketing, or you’ve created a definitive guide to online marketing. If you write a post on keyword research, you simply add a link in your keyword research blog to your online marketing post.

Each time you write a post that is related to your main post on the same topic, link it to your main post.

This is a great way to help your audience more by guiding them to additional content and serves as a connection for Google’s spider bots into the relationship between your pieces of content.

Make it a point to add links to additional content in your sidebar.

This way readers have the option to move to a different blog that’s relevant to the one they’re reading and shows Google other relevant pieces of content related to your post even if you don’t add direct internal links to your content.

One thing to note is that in order to keep yourself in line with Google’s Webmaster Guidelines any links you add need to be visible.

Back in the early 2000’s you had people trying to trick to the system with zero point text and white fonts, something that Google will definitely penalize you for now.

So make your links easy to see that will allow your readers to check it out right away!
